When you've never had a boudoir photoshoot done, it can be a little confusing about what to expect and there are a lot of common misconceptions. Most people think that you have to be a model, who is ok with wearing the skimpiest lingerie or nothing at all, and that your photos will end up all over the internet. That's not how we do things here at Biondi & Co Boudoir Photography!
Here at our boudoir studio in Winston-Salem, NC, we photograph real people. People who have never been in front of a camera before, at least not in such a vulnerable way. We photograph people from all different walks of life, who have different views of themselves and different comfort levels. Most of our clients have the exact same misconceptions or questions about how this whole boudoir thing works. So we're here to help clear things up!
Myth- You Have to Have the Perfect Body
Do you have a body? Perfect! You're ready for your boudoir photoshoot! There's no such thing as a "perfect body", besides the body you have. It would be so boring if everyone looked exactly the same. And we know how hard it is to accept yourself when you don't look like what you constantly see in the media. I know that both of us here at Biondi Co Boudoir have struggled with body image issues. And I'm pretty sure every single client we've had has been self conscious about their body in some way. Body acceptance is a constant battle that you have to fight in your mind. But despite those struggles, despite the parts of yourself that you don't deem as "perfect", you deserve to feel good in your own skin. You deserve to have beautiful boudoir photos taken that showcases the beautiful body you do have.
Myth- You Have to Know How to Pose
Unless you're a model, you probably have no idea what to do in front of a camera. And that's ok! Sometimes we don't know what to do with ourselves either! But we do know what to do with you. When you come to our boudoir studio here in Winston-Salem for your boudoir photoshoot, we always reassure you that all you have to do is follow our guidence, and you're going to look amazing (even if some of the things we say sound ridiculous, it looks amazing, we swear!). Before we start the session, we always go over posing basics with you so you are familiar with what to do. Then during your session we guide you through each pose completely, posing you from your head to your toes. And Joel is always there to demonstrate, which is honestly one of the best parts of the shoot!
Myth- You Have to Wear Lingerie
Here at Biondi Co Boudoir, we're always down to photograph pretty much any outfit you bring in. As much as we love lingerie, we also love seeing what we can do in street clothes too. Seeing how sexy you look in something that you would wear everyday can be a huge confidence boost for you! And it's super fun for us to be able to shoot something different. We've had people bring in sweater dresses, a white tank top with their regular bra and undies. crop tops and jeans...just all sorts of things! And they always look amazing in whatever they wear. So if lingerie isn't your thing, let us know during your consultation and we'll see what we can come up with!
Myth- You Have to Be Topless or Nude
When you walk into our boudoir studio, our main goal is to make you comfortable. We will never ever ask you to do anything you are not ok with, and that includes outfits and nudity. Yes, we will photograph you baring it all if that's what you choose to do, but it's completely up to you and your comfort level. Some people choose to stay as modest as possible, while others strip down completely. If you're on the fence and want to try to push your own boundaries, we can help you ease into it. We always tell our clients that they can change their minds at any time and we do check-ins with you throughout your boudoir shoot to make sure you're still comfortable with everything. You never have to do anything you don't want to do.
Myth- You Have to Have Your Boudoir Photos Posted Online
Some people choose to allow us to share any of their photos, some ask us to only share anonymous, and sometimes we have clients who choose to keep their photos private. When you book with Biondi Co Boudoir, we send out a release agreement with your contract that asks what you are comfortable with us sharing. You do not have to have your photos shared after your boudoir session. Boudoir photoshoots are such an intimate thing, and you get to decide if and how your photos are used. We always appreciate when we can share our work, but we completely understand when our clients choose to stay private, and we respect that 100%.
