We've Moved!

Earlier this year, our boudoir studio changed owners. We weren't sure what this meant for our future there, so we started preparing for all of the possibilities. We met with the new landlord, and decided that it was in our best interest to not renew our lease at our current studio. But never fear! We aren't giving up boudoir!

We decided that the best course of action was to move our studio back home. If you've been here from the beginning, you'll remember that we started in our bedroom. We have definitely outgrown that little space, so we converted our garage into our studio!

It took a bit (ok, a lot) of work to get the garage ready. It was being used as a playroom/storage room combo. We had to go through all of the toys, figure out where the heck to put them in the house (we have 4 kids, we're a little short on space at this point), and then figure out what to do with the rest of the crap we were storing. We got rid of a lot and moved the rest to the attic. It was honestly a really good thing that we were forced to go through everything. It's crazy how unwanted junk piles up when it's out of sight, out of mind.

Once everything was cleaned out, we got down to the real work. We painted the walls, had them insulated, put down floors and had to figure out what to do about our lighting situation since the garage gets no natural light. We ended up creating a fake window type thing on the garage door, which actually works really nicely! More on that later though...

Once all the prep work was finished, we had to move everything from the other studio back home. And we had to do it quick, because we had a session coming up! The most worrying part about moving spaces was if we could fit everything we needed into the garage. The other studio was a whole house, so we had to downsize what we were storing over there. We were able to keep most of the furniture, other than our blue velvet couch (which broke during our last couples session at the other studio anyway, RIP). After a little bit of trial and error and moving stuff around, we found an arrangement that works.

Although we are sad to let our other studio go, moving back home really was the best option for us. We're able to put so much more time into more important business things when we're not having to travel back and forth to get anything done. And being back home allows Shelby to come back to work during the baby's nap time. So you're able to experience our wonderful banter!

So far we've done a couple of sessions in the new studio, that we're unfortunately not allowed to share due to client requests to keep them private. But we're excited about the upcoming shoots we have and we're ready to start the new year off with a bang in our new space!
